Monochrome.....
Monochrome is my favorite! I think it makes the viewer notice & appreciate more of the details that
could otherwise be lost in the distraction of color.

This is part of the wooden doors at Ft. Caroline. November 2012

I had a little fun in processing this picture… I wanted to really bring out the details and textures of everything -especially the walls!

Near Palm Coast, Florida February 2010

This just begged to have it's picture taken. Shovels made door handles going into the amphibian building in the Range of the Jaguar area at Jacksonville Zoo. I believe this is the first time I ever noticed it myself!

One of my favorite finds on Big Talbot Island in Jacksonville, FL.

If you look at the whole beach it just looks like a big mangled mess…. somewhere in that mess you can see the beauty of it all… But it's when you start looking at each piece that you start to see how amazing each one is.

A view going up the tight and narrow steps of the Jupiter Lighthouse, West Palm Beach, FL.

St. Augustine Lighthouse, St. Augustine, FL

The view going up, wayyy UP, at Ponce Inlet Lighthouse...203 steps to the top! ...and then... back down... WHEW!!! It is the tallest lighthouse in Florida and one of the tallest in the nation. Ponce Inlet Lighthouse, Florida

This is the view going down the steps in the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse. It is very tight and steep! I can't even imagine how much work that was back in the day for the caretakers.

I simply find it fascinating! I could stay in there all day!!! St. Augustine Lighthouse, Florida

This photo won an Honorable Mention in the Black & White category in the Photo Competition at Florida State College of Jacksonville in 2011. St. Augustine Lighthouse, FL

The reason I LOVE lighthouses - - - The stairs!!! It never gets old! St. Augustine Lighthouse, St. Augustine, FL

The first thing that popped into my head when I saw this display was the song "99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall"... so... I was compelled to count them (I'm OCD like that!)! Only 82 plus a few canisters. This shelf is in the "hospital" at Ft. Clinch State Park... I suppose it was herbs, medicines and other concoctions.

Ft. Clinch, if you have guessed, is my newest obsession! This place is absolutely packed with photo opportunities!!! Ft. Clinch State Park, Fernandina Beach, FL

This is some AMAZING ceiling work at Ft. Clinch State Park. The arch you see on the bottom half of the pic is the top part of the wall. Then there are similar arches and the end of the other three curves. If you see this in person, you will no doubt stand there in awe for quite a few minutes! Ft. Clinch State Park, Fernandina Beach, FL

I really like the way the light shines... not to mention how I love the curvy steps! This picture has a little bit of intrigue with the distressed area on the wall. Ft. Clinch State Park, Fernandina Beach, FL

We all know how much I love these dizzy stair perspective shots! I like how this one has the small opening letting light in and giving the steps varying tones. Ft. Clinch State Park, Fernandina Beach, FL

For some reason, I always think it's funny and can't help but laugh when I see reenactments. I admire them but I think its funny! The guy in the back, OMG, I was laughing, I'm still laughing! He truly looks like he belongs back in 1864!!! Ft. Clinch State Park, Fernandina Beach, FL

This looked pretty neat in color... but I feel like the B&W really makes the pricklies stand out!! lol I just want to say, "OUCH" when I see this!

Behind the St. Augustine Lighthouse there are some trails. Spanish Oak Trees everywhere… this is a view under the canopy of trees. Sometimes when I look at this though, I don't see trees… it looks like a close up of broken asphalt after an earthquake! I guess since I made it B/W.

I think this perspective is my favorite… It feels like "we" are the tree. It looks like the tree is reaching for something… but its always just out of reach!

It's a mystery - even to me- why I love driftwood so much. I just do. Add some clouds and voila! We get an amazing picture. The thing I know I love the most about that place is that it's never the same… all the pieces get rearranged and I discover new things each time.
